“Essential Mental Health Hotlines: Numbers to Keep at Your Fingertips for Support”

SA Health offers a comprehensive array of public mental health services catering to children, adolescents, adults, and older individuals in South Australia. These services, accessible through community health centers, hospitals, and home-based care, aim to address the mental health needs of the population. General practitioners can facilitate access to specialized mental health services through referrals, and a wide network of non-government organizations, supported by the South Australian government, plays a crucial role in delivering essential mental health services.

Mental Health Triage Service – 13 14 65

The SA Health Mental Health Triage Service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This service:

  • is the main point of access to state funded mental health services
  • can provide advice and information in a mental health emergency or crisis situation
  • is staffed by mental health clinicians
  • will assess and refer to acute response teams where appropriate.

If you feel that you may be in need of mental health support and have never accessed a mental health service before, please contact your general practitioner or phone our mental health triage service on 13 14 65.

Community Clinical Rehabilitation Service

The Community Clinical Rehabilitation Service (CCRS) has a focus of proactive and timely one-to-one rehabilitation with mental health consumers who have an open episode with either the Eastern or Western Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT). CCRS also has a strong focus on community partnerships and offers a range of evidence and needs-based therapeutic group programs.

A referral can be completed at any point in a consumer’s care continuum; access is not dependent on current phase of illness or symptoms. If a consumer is eligible for services from the CMHT they are eligible for CCRS to work in parallel where rehabilitation needs exist.

Clinical rehabilitation is planned and undertaken in conjunction with the consumer and their other care and treatment services. It is provided via home visits, at community venues and CMHT locations. Every consumer at CCRS is supported to develop a strength-based individual rehabilitation plan which includes their rehabilitation targeted goals, agreed actions and timeframes.

CCRS has a multidisciplinary team which comprises peer specialists, psychologists, occupational therapists, a social worker and co-morbidity specialists.
